GARDENING FOR BEGINNERS

A well planned task is half complete. Starting a garden does not need a sophisticated setup.  Here are simple steps to get you started.

  1. Identify what are you interested in growing.
  2. Learn your climate and micro climate. Learn about your gardening zone. That would help you choose the right type of plants and its care.
  3. Choose a location. Your location could be your windowsill / backyard / a farm land.
  4. Observe your chosen location for light. Have you chosen a sunny location? Or if indoors, are you planning a grow light?
  5. Choose your gardening method. It could be raised bed, in-ground, containers, indoors, outdoors. Anything works. Only what you grow and how you grow varies with your location and preferred method.
  6. Plan your garden. Narrow down what you would want to grow.
  7. Test your soil. Your local county should have soil testing resources.
  8. Amend your soil as needed. A homemade compost is a great amend to any soil.
  9. Source seeds / seedlings. Learn your plants' grow needs. Reach out for new garden needs.
  10. Take care of your plants with right nutrition, water and pest control.
  11. Enjoy your harvest.
